SkyCaddie Aire - Simple, Practical
The SkyCaddie Aire gives you clear, simple information and this is reflected in its affordable up-front price. It gives you the distance to the middle, front and back of the green from your position. Distances are constantly updated as you move.
As you switch on the Aire it will automatically detect the golf courses nearest you. This normally takes place within two or three minutes. Simply confirm the course you are playing with one click.
You can choose to have the unit automatically change from hole to hole, or you can do so manually which is great if you decide to skip a few holes, or begin your round at something other than the first hole.
At 2.4oz the SkyCaddie Aire is a really lightweight unit and the rubberized feel of the casing gives security in a wet hand and durability if it's dropped or bashed, particularly important if you have it attached to your golf bag.
In The Box
The Skycaddie Aire comes with a belt clip should you wish to wear it, and there is also a carabiner to allow you to hook it to your golf bag or cart.
A usb cable is included to enable you to charge it and to take advantage of the updates via the Skygolf website.
SkyCaddie Aire - Accuracy From The Ground Up
SkyCaddie are famous for the accuracy of their mapping. Unlike other manufacturers who rely on satellite imagery alone, Skygolf (the company who produce the SkyCaddie products) actually have people walking every golf course, ensuring the distances to the important points on every hole are pinpoint accurate.
This labor-intensive process is one of the reasons that SkyCaddie products have an ongoing membership cost - something that not every golfer enjoys, but which many are happy to pay in return for the accuracy of the products. They have various tiers of membership, and the packages come with numerous other benefits, including money-off deals with chosen partners.

UPDATE: SkyGolf have announced that any Aire devices bought in 2013 will have no subscription fee
Aire GPS - How Did It Perform On The Course?
I used the Sky Caddie Aire for 3 rounds and enjoyed it. It is a really good looking, no frills device, and I found that it performed well.
In fact the simplicity of it is one of the things I appreciated. One quick glance and the main, centre green, number was very obvious, so no slowing on the pace of play.
My playing partners were happy to take a peek too as we walked down the fairways to our balls.
A couple of times it dropped satellites, but only for a second or two before the yardages re-appeared. This can happen with gps devices from time-to-time.
The Aire performed very well and showed no adverse signs of damage having been dangling from my bag.
Sky Caddie Aire - Summary
The Aire is a simple to use, practical golf gps device. It is well priced and gives most golfers what they want - the yardages to the front, middle and back of the green.
Although it comes in at an affordable upfront cost it doesn't look like a cheap product. Its quality and ease-of-use are two stand-out features, and many golfers will be delighted to have this helping them lower their scores.
